Chinese Hospital’s Radiology/Imaging Services offers quality diagnostic imaging testing for patients of all ages, in all stages and variations of health and disease. These tests allow physicians to make comprehensive evaluations, and diagnose, plan, and monitor treatments. The department is fully digital with advanced Radiology Information Systems(RIS) and Picture Archival Communications systems(PACS).

Diagnostic imaging services available include: MRI, x-rays and fluoroscopy, 64-slice CT, computed tomography, digital mammography, ultrasound, DEXA bone densitometry, nuclear medicine and interventional radiology.

MRI (NEW) is a test that uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to make pictures of organs and structures inside the body. In many cases, MRI gives different information about structures in the body than can be seen with an X-ray, Ultrasound, or Computed Tomography (CT) scan. MRI also may show problems that cannot be seen with other imaging methods.

X-rays use low radiation doses that pass through selected parts of the body to produce an image. X-rays are commonly used for chest, abdomen, bones and joints. X-rays are frequently used to rule out fractures in the bone or pneumonia in the lungs

Fluoroscopy is a technique for obtaining “live” x-ray images showing movement and action such as the digestive tract.

CT or computed tomography is an x-ray examination that produces volumetric images of the body. Then with the help of computer technology rejoins the images to give 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional images of internal organs, bone, soft tissue and blood vessels.

Full-field digital mammography is a mammography system that uses low-dose x-rays to examine the breasts.

Ultrasound imaging, also called ultrasound scanning or sonography involves exposing parts of the body to sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body. Ultrasounds do not use x-rays nor does the patient,receive any radiation. Because ultrasound images are captured in real-time, they can show the structure and movement of the body’s internal organs, as well as blood flowing through blood vessels.

DEXA bone densitometry scanning, also called dual energy x-ray absorptionmetry is a very low dose form of x-ray technology that is used to measure bone loss. DEXA is today’s established standard for measuring bone mineral density (BMD).

Nuclear Medicine is a diagnostic examination that evaluates body anatomy and function. The images are developed based on the detection of energy emitted from a radioactive substance given to the patient, either by mouth or intravenously.

Interventional radiology services include: ultrasound guided biopsies, CT guided biopsies, thoracentesis, paracentesis, image guided fine needle aspirations and wire localizations for breast biopsies.
