Staying at Chinese Hospital

Before You Visit

What to Bring

Chinese Hospital will provide most of what you need during your stay with us.  Medications that you take at home should not be brought into the hospital unless you have been directed to do so by your physician.  Please bring only a list of these medications you are currently taking.

If you have a living will, Power of Attorney for Healthcare, or any other advanced directive, please bring a copy of it with you.

In addition, please remember to bring:

  • Insurance Identification card or policy number
  • Social Security number
  • Medicare or Medi-Cal card
  • Any other medical insurance information

What Not to Bring

Please do not bring valuables such as jewelry, large sums of cash, lap top computers, or other expensive equipment.  For safety reasons, privately-owned electronic devices are not allowed in patient rooms.  These items include, but are not limited to, hair dryers, razors, radios, heating pads, or portable heaters.  Only battery-powered devices are permitted, but must not be used in an oxygen-enriched atmosphere.

Upon Arrival

Admission

Chinese Hospital Lobby

Upon arrival, an admitting representative will ask for various medical and insurance information.  Please remember to bring your current insurance identification card, Medicare or Medi-Cal cards, or the form of payment you will be using to pay for your hospital stay.

You may be asked to sign consent forms for certain types of treatment, tests and or procedures.  Our staff will gladly explain each treatment, test or procedure before you are asked to sign the consent form.

In-Room Accommodations

Each room is equipped with a remote control television set and a telephone.  Your room includes a nurse call button at the bedside that rings at the nurses' station.  Your bed has two upper side rails that will be raised at all times for your safety.  Should you require assistance, there is an emergency cord in your bathroom.  There are also pillows, blankets and bathrobes available by asking your nurse.

Meals

Our dietary department at Chinese Hospital provides meals for patients as prescribed by their physician.  Authentic Chinese food is also available.  Meal hours are as follows:

Breakfast: 7:45 a.m.
Lunch: 12:00 noon
Dinner: 5:45 p.m.

Between-meal nourishment is available to all patients within the limits of their prescribed dietary orders.

Smoking

For the health and safety of our patients and staff, smoking is not permitted within the hospital under any circumstances.  Anyone who uses smoking materials must do so outside of the hospital.

Visitors

Visits by friends and family are welcome and encouraged at Chinese Hospital.  To promote the comfort of all our patients, visitors are asked to keep visits brief, and that patients limit visitors to two at a time.  Visiting hours are between 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.  Special units may have individual restrictions.  Paid parking is available at Chinese Hospital.  If you have questions about the visiting policies or hours, please inquire upon arrival.
