Application Process

In order to apply, you must:

Meet the minimum Requirements.
Register and attend a Information Session Schedule. (See Information Session Schedule)
Submit a completed Volunteer Application Form (if under 18 years old, you must also submit a Parental Consent Form.)

You will be notified about your application status by email or telephone within four weeks. During this time, your application will be reviewed by Volunteer Program and department staff to determine whether an appropriate placement can be made. Effort will be made to place volunteers as quickly as possible, according to their interests, skills and availability. However, placement will ultimately depend on the needs and capacity of each department, as determined by Volunteer Program staff and department managers. Due to the high volume of applicants, your patience and understanding will be appreciated.

If accepted, you will be contacted by the Volunteer Program to arrange your schedule and term of service, and to set up a time to complete your application (i.e., turn in health screening documentation, obtain uniform, etc.)

Volunteer Information Session

Attendance at a Volunteer Information Session is required for all interested in volunteering at Chinese Hospital, and should be completed prior to submitting an application.

Pre-registration for Volunteer Information Sessions is required. To register, select a date from the schedule below and email the following information to ch_volunteers@chasf.org:

1.       Your name
2 .      Students only: The name of your school.
3.       Your phone number
4.       Your email address
5.       The orientation date(s) you can attend
6.       The department you would like to volunteer in
**      Include in the email SUBJECT line: Volunteer Information Session Registration and
          [Your preferred orientation date(s)]

* All Volunteer Information Sessions will take place at Chinese Hospital, 835 Jackson St, San Francisco, CA, Room 501 (on the 5^th Floor)
